IBM ITALY HEADQUARTERS
Segrate, Italy |
 |
|
 |
 |
 |
IBM Italia Headquarters is located in the city of Segrate,
a neighboring city of Milan. Besides the headquarters functions such as
general affairs and administration, this office also acts as their sales base.
In order to reduce cost and re-enforce the sales operation, the then dispersed
sales offices in Milan were brought together into the headquarters.
Currently, there are 2,000 employees working on a 37,000m2-campus with a
total floor space of 70,000ÜFin three buildings. |

 |
 |
| The acute rise in the population density necessitated the
alteration of a section of the office into non-territorial style. The administrative
staff that spends full time in the office uses a fixed desk out of three in a
booth. There are four shared desks in a booth, to be used freely by the sales
staff that spends up to 80% of their time out of the office. The technologies
to back up the shared desk system are portable computers and mobile phones, given
to each sales staff, and IBMs own telephone exchange system. With the shared
desk system, IBM has succeeded in reducing up to 50% of all floor space in Italy. |
