ACCENTURE TECHNOLOGY LAB
Palo Alto, California, USA |
 |
|
 |
 |
 |
| Accenture, with a total workforce of 75,000 in 47 countries,
is the world's leading firm in the field of management consulting and IT solution
services. One of their technology research and development groups is Accenture
Technology Lab (ATL,) and it conducts research projects, to assess the value the
newest technologies would bring into the business world. The group develops next
generation business solution, and produces prototypes. In addition to Palo Alto,
they have labs in Chicago and Sophia Antipolis in France, with a total staff of
approximately 120 around the world. |
 |
 |
 |
| The Palo Alto site of ATL, established in 1989 and retaining
a staff of approximately 40, is the most practical of all three ATL sites. It
is the nucleus of their research and development, and also doubles as a showcase
to their clients. Once youre permitted by fingerprint recognition device, walk
through the hallway with exhibits of awarded patents and youll be in front of
a meeting room inside a curved glass wall. The displays of prototypes that were
developed, add to the atmosphere of a leading research institute. In the adjacent
Home Lab, a near future setup is simulated where everyday objects, such as the
wardrobe, are connected to the internet to enhance daily lives. The Active Map,
a real-time locator of all persons within the institute, is a project in its trial
stage. Visitors will be able to feel at hand the technological applications in
the making. |
